Enter when a shift started and ended and get the exact time worked, with any unpaid break taken out. Shifts that cross midnight — a 22:00 start and a 06:30 end — are handled automatically, so night workers don't need to add 24 hours by hand.
How to use it
- 1.Enter the clock-in and clock-out times.
- 2.Add unpaid break minutes, if any.
- 3.Read the shift length as hours:minutes and as a payroll decimal.
Questions people ask
- How are overnight shifts handled?
- When the end time is earlier than the start time, the calculator assumes the shift crossed midnight and adds a day. A 22:00–06:30 shift reads as 8 hours 30 minutes.
- Why show decimal hours too?
- Most payroll systems bill in decimal hours, not hours and minutes. 7 hours 45 minutes is 7.75 payroll hours — the tool shows both so nothing gets mistyped.
